New “English for teachers” project started in Perm

City Department of education and “Britannia” language center have started a new project, aimed to improve language and methodic competence of English language teachers.

According to reports of the City Department of education, a “Cambridge Day” will take place at Perm school №2 (Startseva Street, 1a). In the beginning of the day teachers (450 people all in all) choose their “learning line”: red, green or blue. Every line consists of three steps. First step is a linguistic workshop, held by an international examiner from Cambridge Claire Barn. During the workshop teachers explore different methods of working with the language and master their teaching skills. The second step of each line is a master class on a strategy of preparation for the Russian and international language exams of different levels of complexity. The final – third – step is Cambridge English Placement Test. Teachers take the international test, defining their professional competence. The test results scale is divided into 6 levels: A 1-2, B 1-2, C 1-2. Modern teachers have to possess a B1, B2 to be able to help children to get ready for the Unified National Exam (C level is a level of a native speaker).

The main goal of the project is to raise the general level of English language teachers’ professionalism.
